Wellington Botanic Garden

Wellington

The primary goal of this project was to revitalize the playground, ensuring it better serves both the community and visitors to the Botanic Gardens.

Our partners at Creo took the lead in the surface design of the Wellington Botanic Garden Playground. This project stands out for its deep integration of community input and the creative approach used to tell a compelling story through the connection between the surface design and the equipment.

A key highlight of this playground is the bespoke design elements that pay homage to the garden’s history, particularly its connection to beekeepers. Our team designed custom shapes on the surface, incorporating bees and flowers that connect the narrative with the unique equipment placed throughout the space.

This design was centred on inclusivity. Pour ‘n’ Play materials ensure that the playground is accessible to users of all ages and abilities, making it a welcoming space for everyone.
